Spark Award Top Five given to "all-textile wireless motion sensing for the next generation of smart clothing"

by Veronika Hall Abraham

Researchers in our group developed an electronic yarn capable of precisely measuring how a person’s body moves. Integrated directly into sportswear or work clothing, the textile sensor predicts the wearer’s exhaustion level during physical exertion. The Spark Award is given to the most promising invention for which ETH Zurich filed a patent in the previous year. Our postdocs Chakaveh Ahmadizadeh and Tyler Cuthbert, our PhD student Valeria Galli, Professor Carlo Menon, and former Master’s project student Pierre Roberjot were one of the 5 finalists at the awards ceremony on Tuesday 28 March 2023.
